Trade Skills 4U, the UK’s no.1 electrical training company has announced it has won investment from a fund set up to specifically target companies who can make a positive social and environmental impact. Palatine Private Equity set up the impact fund as a vehicle to assist the growth of companies that can make a positive difference whilst providing return on their investment.

HR Managers and Directors joined the BID at its Autumn People Forum on 4th October. The lunchtime sessions are designed to provide best practice learning for those involved in the recruitment and development of people on Manor Royal. This time, the session focused on Recruitment and was kindly hosted by Welland Medical in Hydehurst Lane.

01/10/2017 - Haslett Avenue Junctions Upgrade
You may have noticed that works have begun to upgrade Haslett Avenue. The seven traffic signalised junctions running from Stephenson Way to Worth Road are being refurbished to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, using the latest technology. The works will be completed by April 2018 but inevitably there will be delays caused by the works and the required lane closures, so you are advised to seek alternative routes during this time.

01/10/2017 - Manor Royal to Benefit from Major Crawley Regeneration Programme
Manor Royal is set to benefit from a significant regeneration programme for Crawley. The Crawley Growth Programme is a £60m investment package of infrastructure improvements and physical regeneration designed to increase new homes, business investment and employment growth. Supported by West Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council, the Manor Royal BID, Metrobus and Gatwick Airport, the project was boosted by an announcement last week that Coast to Capital LEP is to contribute £14.64 million from the Local Growth Fund.
29/09/2017 - Manor Royal BID Holds AGM Ahead of Renewal Ballot
The Manor Royal BID company, MRBD Limited, held its latest Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday (Thursday 28 September) at the Premier Inn in Fleming Way. This was the fourth AGM of the not-for-profit company, held ahead of next year’s ballot to renew the BID for a further five-years.
The 2016/17 Annual Report and Accounts were formally presented at the AGM as part of the BID’s accountability and governance. The BID is run by Manor Royal based business people and its priorities are set out in an agreed Business Plan which is then delivered by the BID team and its partners.
29/09/2017 - BID Invests in New Ranger Service
Manor Royal BID has launched a new Business Ranger Service that provides a day-and-night community patrol throughout Manor Royal Business District in Crawley, West Sussex. The new Ranger team is dedicated to Manor Royal Business District and will contribute to community safety and security. It will also help the BID to identify anti-social behaviour hotspots (such as litter problems and dangerous parking) and maintenance and environmental issues which require action.

23/08/2017 - Advance Notice of A23 Bridge Roadworks
A start date has now been agreed for maintenance work to be carried out at Mole Bridge. The bridge carries the A23 over the River Mole to the east of the north terminal at Gatwick and the works are required to replace the waterproofing system which protects the deck slab from corrosion of the steel reinforcement. This will involve excavating the carriageway which will require lane closures on the dual carriageway.

Travelling by bus to Manor Royal Business District and Gatwick Airport just got even more productive now that Metrobus has fitted its entire fleet with free WiFi and the main services services in the area now have USB charging points at every seat.

Businesses across Manor Royal are being urged to comment by 7 September on the final draft of the BID2 Business Plan summary (below) before it goes to print, ahead of the Ballot Vote to renew the BID in February 2018.

27/07/2017 - First staff move into new Emergency Operations Centre and HQ on Manor Royal
South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) is pleased to be welcoming the first staff at its new Emergency Operations Centre and HQ in Gatwick Road, Manor Royal.
Staff from Lewes Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) have begun working from the new control room with support staff from the Trust’s offices in Lewes, Coxheath and former HQ in Banstead, starting to work in the new building now and in stages over the coming weeks. Control room staff from Banstead EOC are expected to join their colleagues in September.

Central Sussex College welcomed local employers, along with prospective students and apprentices, to its Open Evening on Wednesday 7 June. One of the largest independent prestige car retailers in the South of England has opened its new multimillion pound Jaguar Land Rover centre in Manor Royal. Covering an area of five acres, Harwoods’ Jaguar Land Rover centre was officially opened on May 16th by sporting legend and Land Rover Brand Ambassador, Sally Gunnell.

Councillor Brian Quinn, Mayor of Crawley, crowned Dyer & Butler Electrical champions in the fiercely contested annual Manor Royal 6-a-side football tournament. The tournament in its sixth year is delivered by the Manor Royal BID Company in partnership with Freedom Leisure and is designed to create connections between companies across the Business District and promote employee wellbeing.

Job seekers from Crawley are now able to view vacancies and apprenticeship opportunities at companies located on Manor Royal Business District, thanks to a new online jobs board which has been launched by Manor Royal BID. It enables employers based in the business district to advertise their vacancies online in one place, providing FREE and UNLiMITED job postings for all companies located on Manor Royal Business District.
18/05/2017 - Know Your Neighbour Expo Huge Success
Manor Royal BID hosted more than 300 business representatives at its latest ‘Know Your Neighbour Expo’ at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Crawley on Tuesday 16 May 2017. Held annually, the event provides an opportunity for all companies based on Manor Royal Business District to meet and do business with each other. As well as an exhibition, the event included speed networking and a pop-up photographic studio.

RE-energise Manor Royal is a project that aims to increase all forms of renewable energy on Manor Royal and deliver cheaper energy for Manor Royal businesses. Auditel Ltd, cost consultancy experts and a BID partner, has been engaged to assess business energy usage to establish the scope of the project and potential savings it might deliver. Auditel will be making contact with businesses through Spring 2017 and inviting them to participate in a simple survey.

03/03/2017 - Manor Royal BID Publishes New Transport Study
Manor Royal BID has published the results of a major new Transport Study commissioned in response to concerns raised in last year’s business survey about congestion and parking across the business district. Prepared by leading independent transport consultancy Steer Davies Gleave and co-funded by West Sussex County Council, Crawley Borough Council and Gatwick Airport Ltd, the report recommends a package of actions to alleviate congestion and parking problems across Manor Royal. The full cost of implementing all recommendations is estimated to be in the region of £9.5m.

01/03/2017 - Metrobus Fastway – smarter way to travel
The Metrobus Fastway bus service to Gatwick airport now has USB charging points – optimised for smart phones – at every seat. All 20 buses on the Fastway services 10 and 20, which carries staff to and from Gatwick and Manor Royal, and shoppers coming into town from Broadfield and Bewbush, have been fitted with the devices which are lit up for easy visibility.

If you run a small business, you can now access grants of up to £2,000 from Crawley Borough Council to help your business grow. The grants may be used to purchase new equipment, access training, pay for an apprentice or any other reasonable expense, as long as the company match-funds the grant.

12/01/2017 - Pocket Park Terrace Construction Begins
At the end of last year, planning approval was granted for the pocket park terrace located at the end of Manor Royal road at the junction with London Road. Work was scheduled to begin on 9 January on the 70th anniversary of Crawley becoming a new town.
