BID Invests in New Ranger Service

BID Invests in New Ranger Service

Manor Royal BID has launched a new Business Ranger Service that provides a day-and-night community patrol throughout Manor Royal Business District in Crawley, West Sussex.

The new Ranger team is dedicated to Manor Royal Business District and will contribute to community safety and security.  It will also help the BID to identify anti-social behaviour hotspots (such as litter problems and dangerous parking) and maintenance and environmental issues which require action.

The Ranger Service, which is funded by the Manor Royal BID, is being delivered by SWL Security Services Ltd following a competitive tender and has begun with immediate effect.  The new Rangers wear clearly branded BID clothing, enabling people to spot them in the business district if they have any concerns.

The new service builds on the existing ANPR and CCTV security services delivered by the Manor Royal BID, Business Watch and Sussex Police. While Manor Royal does not suffer from high levels of reported crime compared to other similar areas, the lack of area-wide security measures has been a concern in recent years, given the large number of businesses on Manor Royal and its proximity to Gatwick Airport.

Steve Sawyer, Executive Director of Manor Royal BID is pleased to see the new service introduced.   He said:  During the tender process, SWL demonstrated a strong commitment to build a true partnership through the delivery of this specialist service.   Our Rangers will become the eyes and ears of Manor Royal BID, listening to concerns, facilitating a quicker response and providing reassurance to all.”

Peter Fisher, General Manager at SWL, said: "We are proud to work with Manor Royal BID and look forward to using our experience of delivering these services in other communities for the benefit of all Manor Royal companies and their employees.”
