Hayes and Jarvis team reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for charity

Hayes and Jarvis team reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro for charity

A group of inspiring colleagues from Manor Royal based tour operator Hayes and Jarvis reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro earlier this month, raising an incredible £14,000 for charity.

The five colleagues – Nick Wilson, Katie Parsons, Stephanie Rock, Taylor Oliver and Barbara Clark – battled against freezing conditions and extreme altitudes to make it to the ‘Roof of Africa’ on 3 October all in aid of the company’s chosen charity, Just a Drop.

Their decision to take on the mammoth task began on a familiarisation trip to Kenya last year when they were fortunate enough to see first-hand how funds from Hayes and Jarvis’ last project for Just a Drop were used to build a rain water harvesting tank at Miangeni School. Since then they have been effortlessly fundraising to raise as much money as possible. Hayes and Jarvis is the water aid charity’s longest standing partner and they are also the first group to summit Mount Kilimanjaro’s 5895 metres in aid of Just a Drop.

Hayes and Jarvis senior destination manager Nick Wilson said: “This was a huge mental and physical challenge that has taught me that anything is possible if you really set your mind to it. We can’t describe just how amazing and emotional it felt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.

“As well as the personal challenge, it means the world to us to know we have raised so much money for Just a Drop and that the money will help provide clean water to communities that desperately need it.

“We would also like to take the opportunity to say an enormous thank you to everyone who helped support us along this life-changing journey, including Kenya Airways who kindly flew us out to Kilimanjaro.”
